If you remember playing the game Oregon Trail as a kid on huge, bulky computers with floppy disks, then congratulations…you had the best childhood ever! In the original game, you play as a covered wagon party of pioneers and head out west from Independence, Missouri to the Willamette River and valley in Oregon. You first had to stock up on provisions, and then, while traveling, make decisions such as when to rest, how much food to eat, etc. The Oregon Trail incorporated simulation elements and planning ahead, along with discovery and adventure, as well as mini-game-like activities (hunting and floating down the Dalles River). The new The Oregon Trail: Hunt For Food card game from Pressman Toys is perfect for kids who grew up playing the original game, as well as for my own children who have no experience with the original game but LOVE playing this new card game.
In The Oregon Trial: Hunt For Food, you will work together with your fellow travelers to collect 600 pounds of meat. However, you will face many deadly threats during your hunt: you might get bitten by a snake, break your leg, or get trapped by obstacles and never make it back to the trail. Each roll can be a life-or-death matter, and the whole family has fun working together to keep everyone alive until the end. If at least one member of your party survives to collect 600 pounds of meat, everyone wins…but it is definitely harder than it sounds! If you have the original The Oregon Trail Card Game, you can play this game as an extension or on its own. This add-on feature will allow you to carry your food and supplies to the original game…however, if you die in this game, both games are over.
Are you up for the challenge? Bring this classic computer game to life and gather your fellow travelers for The Oregon Trail: Hunt for Food Card Game which you can find exclusively at Target.
