I can’t believe how fast the time has flown! Here I am starting week 19 on my Nutrisystem journey and every week I just keep feeling better and better. This week I lost 1.6 lbs for a total loss of 28 lbs so far! The best part about this week is that the balance has finally shifted…I have officially lost more than what I have left to lose! With 28 lbs gone, I have 27 lbs left to my final goal weight and I couldn’t be happier.
The past week, however, was a struggle for me to get through while still maintaining my weight loss and my sanity. A couple weeks ago my Aunt Barb (the matriarch of our family and the glue that held us all together) was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer. She made the decision to not have any more invasive tests or treatments, and requested hospice care for what time she had remaining. Her prognosis was a few weeks to a few months at best. Monday her breathing began to become much more labored, and within two days she didn’t even look recognizable anymore, and was on a constant morphine drip to keep her comfortable. Wednesday afternoon my Aunt was moved to active status, which meant that her body was shutting down, and her pastor came in to read her some scriptures and sing some of her favorite songs. By Wednesday night my Aunt Barb lost her short battle with cancer, and passed away.
I am someone who has always been an emotional eater, and wanted to bury myself in chocolate, ice cream, pizza…you name it. I am SO thankful that Nutrisystem has helped me learn to make a life change. I ALMOST caved. I pulled out some incredibly high calorie ice cream of my husband’s, had my hands positioned on the top of the package to tear it open and eat my feelings when the ‘healthier’ part of my mind took over. I questioned whether it was worth it, to destroy all of the hard work I’ve put in and the progress that I have made. I put that devil ice cream back, had a salad and some water, and felt much better about the decision that I made. When you are on the Nutrisystem plan you don’t just eat the food mindlessly, you learn how to make better, healthier choices, one decision at a time.
When you go through hard times like I did this past week, reflect on your past successes and let them help carry you through whatever you’re faced with. I am loving the body AND mind change Nutrisystem is helping me acheive.
