Good morning week 17!  I was eager to step on the scale this morning to see if following the counselor’s advice last week worked.  I had NO idea they would be so COMPLETELY right.  After two weeks of not losing a whole lot this week I lost a whopping 2.2 lbs bringing me to a total of 25 lbs lost so far!  It’s also that time again where I share a monthly picture with you all of my progress and include that dreaded “before” picture…but that’s really the best way to show you all that the Nutrisystem plan works!

I am so, SO glad to be moving away from that before picture and headed in the right direction.  Nutrisystem has helped me gain my life back and I couldn’t be more thankful.

I have been asked a few times about the food that I add in so I think it’s a good time to share that all with you.  A common misconception is when you’re on Nutrisystem, that’s all you eat.  That couldn’t be more wrong.  Depending on what plan you’re on and what you’re activity level is, you may add in more or less food than the next person.  Throughout the day you will add in powerfuels and smart carbs to help keep your metabolism going, and your energy level up.

These are some of my favorite power fuels that I add in to help create a little variety.  A power fuel is anything that is between 80 and 120 calories with a minimum of 5 grams of protein.  There are TONS of items out there that can fall into this category, but as I’ve mentioned before I’m a creature of habit and these are some of my favorites that you will always find in my kitchen.

These items are some of my favorite smart carbs.  A smart carb is any food that is between 80 and 120 calories and has a minimum of 1 gram of fiber.  That is the same loaf of sourdough that you’ll see in both pictures, but it meets the requirements of both a power fuel and a smart carb so it can be used for either.

You can see that I’m not starving or deprived by any means, and I enjoy the food that I get to eat.  Because of my activity level I add in a couple additional foods to my standard plan which keeps me eating every 2 hours 7 am to 7 pm.  I never feel hungry, I’m always satisfied, and yet I’m still losing weight!  I can’t wait to keep continuing this journey and sharing it with all of you 🙂  .
